so every year, people in japan celebrate their ancestors for a week... they call it obon, its usually the 2nd week of august, people usually go to cemetaries and they usually have the week off. but of course i was working. anyways, every prefecture is different, soo tokushima has one of the biggest dance festivals during oban. Awa odori is a 4 day festival that surrounds downtown tokushima with dances and a lot of drunk spectators. So the festival started sunday, and my friends and I decided to start partying Friday, sounded like a great idea... we ended up partying saturday as well, we had to, my roomate, had his friends from scottland over, so we had to do something... those 2 nights were a blur...
but i do recall somethings during awa odori...
day 1
awa - tokushimas old name back in the days when it was the 3rd largest japaese city, now i think its like the 100th largest city... odori - dancing, heres the crowded areas
i had to urinate so i went this area by the river, and heres a cool picture of the lanterns and vendors
